My Favorite Hangout

on May 20, 2015 in My Life Now

Most days, BFF spends the bulk of his day in the “no” room. I guess he thinks it’s more important to work than pet me. I don’t know. The kids and Mama, though, stay out in the main rooms of the house. They do things like school and cooking, but since it’s rooms I’m allowed in, I can be a part of the family. When Mama’s done teaching the kids for the day, she then spends time at her computer working on pictures. And that’s when I go to my new favorite hangout…under her chair. I keep hearing words like “dangerous” and “being careful,” but I’m not sure why. I’m lying in the sun, right next to Mama…what could possibly go wrong?!

Hunting Instinct

on May 18, 2015 in My Life Now

I love soft toys. They usually squeak. They’re perfect for fetch. I take them to whoever I want to and drop it at their feet. There’s just one problem. Apparently, most dogs aren’t anywhere near as good at killing things as I am. I’m a hunter! I proved it to my family by killing a mole. I dug him out of the ground and killed him. I’m amazing! But that killer instinct is stronger than any of the toys on the market. Within 24 hours, I’ve pulled out most of the stuffing and any squeakers of the toy my Family has brought me. I’m sure they won’t mind buying me new ones every few days… I gotta be...

Dancing

on May 15, 2015 in My Life Now

My family likes to dance. I like to dance too, but they seem to like to dance together. very different from my “I’m so happy to see you!” and “it’s finally time for my walk” dances. Sometimes it’s Boy and Sunshine. They’re cute together. Other times it’s BFF and Mama. That one makes me nervous. It looks like he might be trying to hurt her, though they laugh and talk to me while they do it so I think it must be fun and not bad. I’m mostly worried that someday they’ll try to get me to do the dance with them. I don’t like having my paws held. A dog’s gotta have some personal space, you know!

Eating Habits

on May 13, 2015 in My Life Now

When I was with my first family, this one day I decided to do something silly. I pretended I couldn’t eat when they were nearby. They thought I was hilarious and quirky. What could I do but continue the game? So I continued to eat in privacy. But when I met my new family, I knew I had a fresh start available to me. I started eating while they ate, just a couple feet from their table. And on date night, when BFF and Mama ate together at the couch, I brought a mouthful of food into the room. I wanted to be a part of their romantic evening! Life is much better since I stopped pretending. They think I’m adorable and sweet and that I trust them. That makes me happy!

Humiliations Galore!

on May 11, 2015 in My Life Now

So there was this cat. He was walking along the brick wall behind our house, right? The only natural thing to do was run outside and tell him he didn’t belong in our yard. So that’s what I did! The only problem was, he didn’t leave. He had the nerve to sit down on the wall like HE owned the place. He finally realized the err of his ways and left…when Sunshine came out and shooed him. I’ve never been so humiliated in all my life. I don’t think I’ll get the job as watchdog now, though I’ve been doing a good job protecting the family from the Big Bad FedEx and UPS guys. All that work, down the drain! *sigh*

My Adventure

on May 8, 2015 in My Life Now

I was playing in the backyard by myself while BFF, Princess, and Boy were in the house ignoring me. But then I noticed something exciting: the gate was open! Oooh, I could go visit the whole neighborhood! Without another thought, I ran. Suddenly, I noticed Boy running behind me. Ooh, even MORE fun. Now he could meet my friends…the nearby dogs, the cats, the kids…it was a walk! Ooh I love my walks! But this one was even better because he trusted me enough not to put the leash on me. We ran through the neighborhood for a few minutes. We passed a kid on a bike. At one point, Boy was so happy to be with me that he actually carried me!! It was so sweet. He knew I needed a break. When he put me back down, I’d had enough of a break to run again. Oh the running was bliss! Then a woman with kids came and picked Boy and I up. She took us home, and then she went back out to find...

Apparently I’m Tigger

on May 6, 2015 in My Life Now

Mama was reading The House At Pooh Corner to the kids, and now she’s decided I’m Tigger. Here’s her reasoning: He thinks he’ll eat anything, but in reality there’s only one thing he’ll eat. (I disagree. He eats extract of malt. I can’t imagine putting that in my mouth) He’s an optimist. (just because I always think Mama calling Princess means it’s time for a walk. Or when someone puts on shoes it must be time for a walk. Or when anyone gets out the cutting board it must be meat. I hardly think that qualifies as an opti…oooh is that cheese?!?!) He bounces everywhere. (okay, that one is me too. I do have a pretty bouncy run) So…what do you think? Does it sound like Mama’s right? Or am I just my own man?

My Toy

on May 4, 2015 in My Life Now

My former family told BFF that I loved to play fetch. So he bought me toys to play with. They weren’t what I was looking for, though. A frisbee? Seriously? And some other bouncy thing I don’t even have a name for. Ugh. I wasn’t interested. My family thought my former family was crazy. But I had a secret. Over the weekend, my family bought me a stuffed toy. And to make it better, it’s a sock monkey. It’s the cutest thing in the world. Suddenly my family is realizing just how playful I am! I don’t play with just any toy; I need one I can play with, chew on, and snuggle with. I don’t play tug-of-war. I drop it at the feet of the person I want to throw it. If I’m not close enough for them to get the drift, I nudge it forward with my nose. They think I’m adorable, and I finally get to play again!...
