Bathtime

on Apr 14, 2015 in My Life Now

Baths are not my favorite time. I don’t fight it, but I don’t exactly go willingly. They say the shampoo is healthy and will help keep bugs away, so I let them do it, but I don’t know why they need to bother. I smell beautiful! Anyways, after my bath last week, I snuck back inside to work off the bath-energy. I went all Taylor Swift to get the bulk of the water off of me. And then something terrible happened. Mama walked into the eating-room, which just happened to be where I had shaken off the water, and slipped. Her foot ran into the corner of the wall, and since then she’s been staying off her feet. She says she broke her toe. I didn’t mean to hurt her. I feel so bad. I don’t know why she’s taking it out on me (I know she is; she won’t take me on my walk now. She makes BFF and the kids do it instead).

The Black Box

on Apr 14, 2015 in My Life Now

Mama keeps talking about wanting to “take more pictures.” I guess that’s what that black box is. What a picture is, I have no idea, but she seems fixated on it. (to be honest, I see her use the black box looking at the kids even more than at me). Last night was the worst so far. She wanted me to look STRAIGHT AT the lens. I could tell by the shape of the lens that it was going to distort my beautiful face, so I refused to look straight into her eyes. I did let her get a nice profile, though. I look so regal. I approve.

My Previous Life

on Apr 14, 2015 in About Me

My old family loved me, but they left me outside most of the time. I don’t know why. I never left them presents. All I wanted was to know what was going on. and their couch. I really wanted their couch, but they never let me. I knew something was missing. I tried chasing squirrels. I tried chasing females. I tried digging my way under the fences. I never found it, though. But one day, it found me! This family showed up at my house. I acted cool but friendly, but inwardly my heart was racing. THIS was where I belonged! They agreed. They took me to a new house. They all snuggled me and talked to me, and Mama kept putting this black box near my face. I think I’m going to like it here!

Shadrach, an introduction

on Apr 14, 2015 in My Life Now

You say my name Shad-Rack. It’s from the Bible. My new family decided to rename me from the name my first family gave me, Shadow. I learned it quickly because it’s so close, and somehow this new name means more. The Hebrew man I’m named for trusted God even when the Babylonians put him and his three best friends into a fiery furnace. I think they gave me the name ironically, knowing a husky (a winter-weather dog) was living in Florida (not known for having winter weather). They say it’s because the first Shadrach was such an amazing man of God. (Shadrach’s Hebrew name means “Yahweh is gracious”) Personally, I think my name means “head of a wolf, legs of a jack russell terrier, and tail of a fox.” My family just laughed when I made that suggestion.
