Two Thirty

on Sep 28, 2015 in My Life Now

I don’t know exactly what it means. Maybe you can help me figure it out. Mama loves if when I come visit her and sit under her desk. She picks me up and snuggles me and tells me I’m sweet. But sometimes the reaction isn’t the same. She says something with the phrase “two thirty” in it and puts me back in bed. When she does, I remember I went in the no room, but there’s more to it than that. I just wish I knew what it was!

That Couch

on Sep 24, 2015 in My Life Now

I love being on the couch with the family. It’s more about the family than the couch. If they’re not there, I’m more likely to choose my enormous bed than the couch. But the couch is hard to get up to sometimes. It usually takes two tries to get up there. I have pretty long legs for a dog my size, but the couch is even taller! Just the other day, I was playing fetch with Mama, and I came running back to the couch with my toy. As I did, I misjudged where the couch started and instead tried to jump onto the (much higher) arm. I fell. They laughed. I tried again and this time I made it up to the couch. I’m glad they laugh. I like being the funny one in the family. Boy is a close second for the amount of laughs he gets from the others, but I’m king of the physical humor!

Mornings

on Sep 21, 2015 in My Life Now

I love mornings. I love it when Mama and BFF gets up and gives me a good long snuggle. They rub my belly and tell me how cute I am. Then I sit on the couch and wait for the kids’ doors to open. (would you believe the gall? They close their doors now so I don’t come wake them up. Like they could want anything more than to see my adorable face when I’m thinking about them at 2 a.m.) I run upstairs as soon as I hear a door handle turn so I can greet each friend as they awaken. The biggest problem is waiting for morning to actually arrive. So sometimes I try to push the clock a bit and go wake up Mama when I think it should be morning. She’s never happy with this and sends me out (and closes her door! of all the nerve). Someday she’ll realize that the 2am club is the most special club around and join me in it!

Puppy

on Sep 17, 2015 in My Life Now

Mama insists I’m a puppy. She says I’ll mellow as I get a little older. I don’t know what she’s talking about. I collect shoes. They belong in my bed with me. If something is in my reach, I will chew on it. I like to mouth (the family calls it “snarfing”). It’s not my fault if their soft skin can’t handle my roughhousing! I really want to sleep in Mama and BFF’s bed. I alternate between running and sleeping. There is no middle ground. I want to see, hear, taste, smell, and play with everything. See? Normal dog behavior!

My friends

on Sep 14, 2015 in My Life Now

It’s been two weeks at my new house now. They feel like my friends now…no, more like family. Mama takes kids out a lot of evenings. They say they’re going to dance. I don’t quite get that, because they dance all over the house and they don’t have to leave me then! But they seem to think it’s necessary and fun. Whenever they leave, I miss them. I sit at the front door. I cry a little and keep watch for their return. Sometimes I’ll go do something else for a few minutes, but I always check in to see if they’re back yet. BFF spends most of his day in the room they won’t let me visit. I understand why Shadrach called it the “no room.” I wish they’d let me in. My idea of perfection would be to sleep on that big bed with them. They’d have to pick me up, though. It usually takes two tries to get up on the couch, and...

I’m a little guy

on Sep 10, 2015 in My Life Now

So apparently I’m a little guy. I don’t know exactly what they use as a benchmark,  because seriously, you should have seen me a few months ago. But they think it’s a good thing, I think, so I’ll let them call me “peanut” and “little dude” and “tiny puppy.” It usually involves snuggles or being picked up, both of which I’m a big fan of, so I guess it’s good! Apparently they’re comparing my size to Shadrach’s. I’m starting to think Shadrach was absolutely ginormous! I’m the perfect size to be held. I make an excellent lap dog. I’m guessing Shadrach didn’t do either of those things. I’m not going to spend my whole life in his shadow, though (which was apparently the size of the moon). I’m working at carving out a new concept of “Family Dog” for these guys,...
