Shadrach, an introduction

on Apr 14, 2015 in My Life Now

You say my name Shad-Rack. It’s from the Bible. My new family decided to rename me from the name my first family gave me, Shadow. I learned it quickly because it’s so close, and somehow this new name means more. The Hebrew man I’m named for trusted God even when the Babylonians put him and his three best friends into a fiery furnace. I think they gave me the name ironically, knowing a husky (a winter-weather dog) was living in Florida (not known for having winter weather). They say it’s because the first Shadrach was such an amazing man of God. (Shadrach’s Hebrew name means “Yahweh is gracious”) Personally, I think my name means “head of a wolf, legs of a jack russell terrier, and tail of a fox.” My family just laughed when I made that suggestion.
